Hi enjoyed the podcast (as always). I think the downbeat tone of Axe, like Unhinged, may go much of the way in explaining why it got banned.

I think you’re right that tone plays a part. Much like Don’t Look In The Basement he 16mm film and grubby quality to everything makes people think they are worse film than they are. Generally there is a subsection of the nasties which all seem and feel similar, (such as Human Experiments) but don’t have much gore.
